Gordon Dalton

Gordon has been interested in all aspects of the outdoors since a very young age. With a strong family tradition of hunting and fishing, he can't even remember his first times hunting or fishing and has been actively pursuing game and fish for decades - waterfowl, deer, turkey, and upland birds. Gordon began work in the outdoor business while still in middle school, working for a high-end hunting/fishing store in Charlotte, NC. This lead to a summer job as a fishing guide in Ontario, Canada for several seasons. In high school, Gordon worked retail for a specialty backpacking/outdoors store chain in Charlottesville, VA. Through time on the water fishing, Gordon became interested in canoeing and kayaking; an interest that grew dramatically in college. Gordon began work in the whitewater rafting industry in West Virginia as a "video-kayaker," paddling the class IV-V whitewater of the New and Gauley Rivers, and producing video documentaries of customers' rafting trips on a daily basis. He is an ACA-certified whitewater kayaking instructor and has taught kayaking at the University of Virginia and at Washington & Lee University. Gordon has paddled at a sponsored-level for years, first paddling for Eskimo Kayaks of Austria, and now Pyranha Kayaks, USA - a premier manufacturer of whitewater kayaks. Gordon's writing and photography have been published in a variety of books, magazines, and video productions. Gordon is also an avid snowboarder and skier, and works as a safety ski patroller at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia.
